I take notes as I play the game for things that I think deserve a mention. If something was not mentioned, it is considered "fine" and not noteworthy in any sense.

Ghost of Tsushima

Pros

  • Fast menus
    Always appriciated.

  • Visuals
Overall this game looks fantastic with great visuals, lightning and overall environments. However at times like when you're at the top of a shire, the draw distance isn't the best and compared to Horizon I played a while ago, the water is a bit bland.

  • Assassinations
This game feels better than Assassin's Creed in terms of assassinations. It feels way more gritty.

  • Exploring
I like how that this game gives you that feeling of, "oh I wanna check out what's up there", encuraging exploration.

  • No loading time
When fast travelling there's no loading time, gave a more immersive experience.

  • Cinematic
I really liked the cinematic parts of the game. Like some boss or important fights would build up.

  • Story
Overall the story was great with what I found to be a satisfied ending.

Neutral

  • Wind direction
It's a cool idea, but at times I would be going in opposite direction so I still had to check the map with it.

  • Assassin's Cred jankiness
Like many other games that goes for the ubisoft open-world formula, similar to Assassin's Creed also somehow has the same old jankiness. Like when you're holding a ledge and end up jumping away and kill your self by falling down the opposite direction.

  • Non-cancellable actions
Even if an enemy is dead, you'll still see the whole multi combo action.

  • Sluggish in larger groups
The combat is good, but when you end up fighting larger groups, it just feels quite slow. I prefer more fast paced action when in combat.

Cons

  • Japanese voice acting lacks subtitles
I started out playing in Japanese, but turns out, all the small-talk around town, or what direction to go and what not is not subtitled in anyway like in other games, so I had to change to English as only the big scenes and main characters was subtitled.

  • Side quests
I didn't care too much about the side quests. It became a bit dull.

  • Local map
The world map navigation was fine, but once you got into a settlement, it could become a bit confusing to find things.

  • Unskippable cutsenes
    Is there more to say.

  • Investigation missions
I really hated that the game would limit you a lot in these missions and constantly show a "Return to search area" message. And things like if you're supposed to follow footmarks, they don't show until you're on the actual path, but while trying to find then you get the "return to search area" message. Too linear.

Final score: 8/10
